“Black Water” is a transmedia project that navigates multiple platforms to explore the ancestral wetlands lying at the four cardinal points: North, South, East, and West. Throughout this journey, narratives unfold that bear witness to the lives of communities near peatlands and their interactions with these ecosystems. This project constitutes a series of visual investigations reflecting on the historical connections with these territories, often distant from dominant narratives. Ecosystems of the periphery, of the depths, which offer us messages to understand our coexistence on the planet.
The diverse languages to explore the universe of the black water encompass photography, audiovisual, writing, and engraving, embodied in platforms that include awebsite, a feature-length documentary, an editorial publication, and a multidisciplinary workshop.
